Oracle Cloud Solution Engineer in Chesterfield, Missouri

Partners with customers, sales, engineering and product teams to design, demonstrate and deploy Oracle Cloud architectures that address customer business problems. Drives Oracle Cloud customer consumption by accelerating the adoption of Oracle cloud services including discovery, design and deployment.

Responsible for engaging with strategic and more complex customers, builds leadership relationships at multiple levels within organizations in order to design and implement solutions. Works directly with customers to gather requirements, develop architectures and translates business needs into solutions. May implement solutions and ensure successful deployments through code development and scripting. Displays product/application understanding through highly customized presentation demonstrations to customers and at conferences and events. Supports customer from Proof of Concept (POC) through production deployment of services via resource configuration, planning, and customer education/training. Creates and distributes technical assets (white papers, solution code, blog posts, and video demonstrations). Provides leadership and expertise in the development of new solutions, products, and processes. Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies. Acts as an acknowledged authority for customers and sales on technical cloud solutions and customer success. Viewed by peers as a leader and top contributor and by line management as a key business partner. Identifies gaps and enhancements to influence engineering roadmaps for customer driven features. Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies.

Minimum qualifications include: 12 years experience with computer applications and tools required. Ability to travel 50% international and domestic. Preferred but not required qualifications include: Bachelor of Science-level university degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering from accredited university; and/or relevant 12 years technical experience. Advanced degree in relevant field of studies highly desirable. Expertise in and an in depth and thorough knowledge of penetrating accounts, meeting stakeholders within accounts, and interaction with C level; Competitive and industry knowledge in the field of computer applications and tools; System and application design; Implementation of advanced product features; Project management; Solving technical problems with customers in technical environments; Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; Needs analysis, positioning, and business justification. 12 years experience and expertise in the clear communication of technical information to others through presentations, demonstrations, written communication and consultative solutioning experience.

Sr. Custom Applications Cloud Engineer

Detailed Description

Work with Oracle Custom Application and Database team on the shared full stack cloud engineering and migration. The team member will focus on helping customers determine the solution requirements and help move custom applications leveraging Oracle database onto Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The team member will understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production WebLogic applications with cloud database services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability according to customer requirements. Partner with product development and marketing teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide development teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical customer issues as a customer first moves onto Oracle’s cloud. Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the effect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Identifies solutions to knowledge of server hardware and software configuration, networking, standard internet services, scripting languages, cloud computing patterns, technology security and compliance.

Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services. Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.

Preferred Qualifications

· A BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent or related technical field with 10 years of experience

· System Engineer with extensive experience in

o Oracle WebLogic Migrations from On-Prem to Cloud

o Installing and configuring WebLogic domain

o Installing WebLogic patches, service packs etc.

o Applying utilities like WebLogic.Admin, WebLogic, Deployer etc.

o Oracle DB Fundamentals

o WebLogic Administration Experience on WLS 11 & 12 version

o Exposure to Oracle Fusion Middleware – WebLogic based products

o Experience in Performance monitoring and tuning of the above areas

· Experience in Building and managing Linux OS systems with good understanding how the Linux kernel works (IO, Network,…etc) and ability to read and understand source code

· Experience in Building and managing Virtualized systems (KVM, OVM, Containers/Docker) and ability to read and understand source code

· Very strong troubleshooting skills of JAR, EAR, WAR etc.

· Systematic problem-solving approach, combined with a strong sense of ownership and drive.

· Additional valuable skills include:

o Advanced scripting/coding skills (Shell, Perl and Python). Knowing Java, REST Architecture and JSON is a plus.

o Understanding of JBoss, Tomcat, Websphere
