Oracle Data Scientist/Product Manager/Strategy 4-ProdDev in Chesterfield, Missouri

Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications. Specify, design and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

This role is available on theOCI Data and AI Solutions Customer Successteam,as a Data Scientist/Product Manager for our Data and AI platform offerings. We are looking for experienced candidates who have a strong interest in a hybrid data scientist/product manager role and who have a strong technical skillset with a proven track record of providing predictive machine learning (ML) models in the industry./ /We are addressing complex and interesting challenges at the intersection of data, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and cutting-edge cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate also has a deep interest in the infrastructure and engineering challenges behind training and deploying machine learning models at scale on the cloud.

In this role, we develop end-to-end solution architectures to address customer use cases (fraud, customer churn, and product recommendations, etc.) using OCI Data and AI Services. We ensure all the services are well integrated and work, cohesively, as a single solution. We are responsible for interoperability between the services. We drive the go-to-market (GTM) strategy and customer adoption of all the services for OCI Data and AI portfolio. We thrive forCustomer Success.

As a Cloud Data Scientist/Product Manager on the team, you will spearhead the mission to build and deliver innovative Data and AI-powered cloud solutions to address complex customer machine learning use cases. You will interact with both external customers and internal Oracle teams who are using the service. You will own and drive innovative, beyond the industry standard, product strategy that addresses our customer’s business challenges. You will work with a diverse set of stakeholders to take the solution from a simple idea, all the way to the market. As one of the leaders on the team, you will play a key role in shaping OCI’s strategy & product portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Present and demo the service to customers.

  • Develop technical proofs-of-concept (PoCs) and demos to de-risk feature development

  • Work, directly, with key customers to understand their requirements, decipher blockers, and translate the feedback into actionable items for individual service owners. Work in collaboration with each individual service team to help consolidate, prioritize, and de-risk feature requests coming from customers.

  • Develop detailed product gaps and integration challenges between the services and then communicate those gaps and challenges to service owners.

  • Evangelize product strategy and vision across all of OCI.

  • Evaluate market trends and know the competitive landscape, in-depth.

  • Drive product launches, including working with: sales and presales field teams, marketing resources, and our customers to ensure a successful release/launch.

  • Contribute to our expert content and go-to-market strategy.

  • Work with internal Oracle teams to assist them in their machine learning use case and their utilization of the Data & AI portfolio of services.

Minimum must-have Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Economics, or another quantitative field.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong and experienced customer focus and engagement.

  • 5 years of experience in a senior/leadership data science role in an enterprise Fortune 500 companies, OR 5 years of practical experience solving data engineering problems at scale

  • 7 years of combined experience in Product Management and Solutions architecture

  • 7 years developing machine learning models using Python. Expert user of Git, jupyter/jupyterLab, pydata stack.

  • Deep understanding of the data science and machine learning space, especially the open-source landscape in python.

  • Experience with distributed systems in the machine learning sphere: Hadoop and any of its commercial versions (Cloudera, Hortonworks, Mapr), Spark, or Dask.

  • Experience training and deploying models on GPUs.

  • Experience in developing and delivering data and end to end machine learning and AI-driven solutions and production systems

  • Ability to define & shape the business strategy for large product areas.

  • Able to engage, communicate and manage customer CxO relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D in a quantitative field

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills. You should be comfortable presenting to C-level executives, research analysts, as well as speaking at major conferences.

  • Strong customer success focus. Able to engage, communicate, and manage customer CxO relationships

  • Experience working on a public cloud service, and in-depth knowledge of the IaaS/PaaS industry and competitive capabilities

  • Experience working on data-centric services like Databricks, Spark, EMR, and Hadoop

  • Domain knowledge of Big Data, Machine Learning end-to-end life cycle and AI-centric services like NLP/NLU and Image recognition services

  • Specific knowledge of certain industries and drivers of potential projects

  • Hands-on experience conducting demonstrations (demos) using tools and related services that show the potential value of solutions

  • Hands-on experience in developing prototypes that include multiple services

  • Domain knowledge of data integration, Python, DB, SQL, ETL, Data Quality, and Data Governance is a plus
