Army Installation Management Command Construction Control Inspector in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense (DOD) Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Public Works, Engineering Division, Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Responsibilities

Responsible for surveillance, monitoring, controlling, and inspection of several construction projects at one time, which may vary in difficulty and complexity.

Work closely with designers to avoid delays in construction with respect to minor changes in construction, deviations from schedules, and resolution of disputes over the acceptability of work.

Check work areas, method of performance, etc., for safe practices.

Review contractor's partial payment estimates for items of work claimed, verifying lump-sum and unit price items for units of accomplishment, and certifies for validity preparatory to payment.

Conduct tests as required to insure the proper functioning of the components of the construction.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Reviewing construction contracts; 2) Interpreting contract documents to determine requirements; and 3) Inspecting completed work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
