Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) at Pearson are business aligned and embedded within our product teams supporting our most critical products. We work closely with many different support teams to deliver outstanding user experiences across Pearson products focusing on providing secure, reliable, and scalable product and technology solutions. We as SREs drive service improvement, usability, and resiliency while providing premier and world-class product support. Responsibilities
Operational excellence including participating and driving retrospectives and postmortems
Focus on service improvement ensuring an unparalleled user experience
Reduce and remove toil through automation
Execute application deployments and coordinate release management
Design and implement highly scalable and reliable services that meets business uptime goals
Driving high-value objectives across inter-disciplinary teams
Partner with product owners and stakeholders to achieve business agility.
Responsible for application security profile and product security posture

Qualifications
Core Competencies
Strong troubleshooting practices including using synthetic tools (New Relic/Google Analytics)
Proven successful incident & operational experience (full stack)
Strong Middleware application & engineering experience (WebLogic, Tomcat, Java, .Net)
Database experience in one or more technologies eg. (Oracle, MS-SQL, No-SQL, MongoDB, Cassandra)
Strong working knowledge of deployment and management of public cloud hosting services in AWS
Configuration management (GitLab/GitHub)
Apply CI/CD methodologies to on-prem and public cloud estates
Automation experience using Ansible, Chef, Puppet, and or Terraform
Strong experience in application performance tuning and infrastructure improvement
Experience with IT management frameworks – Grafana, Solar Winds, Pager Duty
Strong Agile methodologies familiarity
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical specialty or engineering-level experience
7-10 years engineering experience in (Infrastructure, Software, Operating Systems, and or Database)
Ability to work within a globalized support team
Scripting fluency in Bash, Python, or Power Shell
The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $130,000.00-$140,000.00. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
