AJM Packaging CorporationJob DescriptioniJob Title: iiiiiiiiiiii Maintenance MechanicDepartment: iiiiiii MaintenanceLocation: iiiiiiiiiiii Manufacturing PlantsReports To: iiiiiiii Maintenance SupervisorFLSA Status: iiiiii Non-ExemptPrepared Date: ii 10/11/2003iSUMMARY iRepair, maintenance and/or installation of mechanical equipment and production machinery.iESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES iiFollow the established preventative maintenance program schedule at stated intervals for the maintenance and upkeep of machinery and equipment.iTroubleshoot production machinery and related equipment.i Observe and visually scan machine components and/or listen to their sounds while in operation in order to locate source(s) of the problem.i Make a determination of the trouble source and the necessary corrective action(s).iDismantle equipment to gain access to trouble source and remove any defective parts or make any necessary adjustments.i As necessary, repair or replace defective parts.iStart equipment to test their performance and to check the quality of the finished product.iPerform all other types maintenance-related work, whether by doing machine repair, tool and die repair, welding, cutting, installing, pneumatic or three-phase electrical work or any other projects requiring the contribution of the maintenance department.iTrack inventory levels of maintenance supplies.i Make procurement recommendations of any supplies, tools, replacement parts or similar items needed for the maintenance, repair or installation of equipment.iFollow all safety rules, guidelines and procedures.iComplete all other duties the Supervisor deems necessary.iSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES iThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.iQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.iEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, but not required; three years or more of industrial maintenance experience preferred.iLANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as repair manuals, schematics, blueprints, safety procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.i Ability to write routine reports and complete standard forms and documents.i Ability to speak effectively to other staff members.iMATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.i Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.iREASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to effectively resolve problems.i Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with multiple variables.iCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSNone required, but any licenses or certificates for mechanical, electrical, welding work are helpful.iPHYSICAL DEMANDSi The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
