Job Summary

This position assists in ensuring the efficient management and movement of train and engine crews utilizing the Crew Call system. It assists in coordination of lodging and transportation for crews with lodgin and taxi companies.

Will develop and use a specialized skill set to complete a wide range of tasks and procedures with a limited degree of supervision. Takes a broad approach to problem solving. Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience. Delivers work, which often impacts quality of team output to agreed timescales, service levels or similar metric.

Job Duties

  • Assists in handling all crew call exceptions

  • Helps manage the crew call system to support the transportation plan

  • Helps make hotel reservations for crews

  • Coordinates with taxi companies to transport crews when needed

  • Assists in issuance of bulletins and abolishment notices for train and yard jobs

  • Helps with creation of daily and monthly reports

  • Monitors and regulates crew boards at each location

  • Helps the resource team achieve departmental goals for crew utilization and availbilty

  • Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Acumen in one or more disciplines of railroad operations

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Railroad experience

  • Experience with taking calls

Essential Functions

  • Shift work is an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support mission critical railroad operations which run 24 hours per day/7 days per week, working various 12 hour shifts as assigned. Schedule assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays

  • This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time
