Overview

OVERVIEW / SUMMARY

Receives, stores, and distributes materials and compiles stock records by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for pricing majority of furniture items.

  • Responsible for moving all priced items from shops to shipping dock for delivery to stores.

  • Supervise loading of trucks to ensure proper handling of merchandise.

  • Coordinate all shipments with store supervisor, particularly special deliveries of mattresses and other bulk items. Be familiar with layout of each store.

  • Fill store orders on scheduled days, including store supplies (i.e. toilet paper, bags, cleaning material, etc.

  • Do minor repair, cleaning and assembly of items for shipping, also pricing and tagging.

  • Keep shipping area clean and in order and unauthorized personnel out of the shipping area.

  • Check each morning items set aside for As-Is auction, returning salable items to the shipping department.

  • Use provided back guard when doing any substantial lifting or moving.

  • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army

    OTHER DUTIES: Other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrator.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience

High school graduate or equivalent. Familiar with center operations, including stores, shops and production policy.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Clerical/Mathematics Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment includes the warehouse and dock areas that are influenced by outside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
