Process Controls and Electrical Distribution (B-Level) Technician


The Process Controls and Electrical Distribution (B-Level) Technician will provide technical maintenance and checkout/startup services for process controls instrumentation equipment and electrical systems within the operating facility. This position requires skills in electrical and instrumentation equipment, analyzers and sampling systems, and the capability to complete troubleshooting tasks. The typical hours of this position are Monday – Friday 6:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m but must be flexible towards 10-hour shift and rotating 12-hour shift. Overtime may be required.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Process Controls and Electrical Distribution (B-Level) Technician, are to:

  • Be required to perform routine, unscheduled, and preventative PCS maintenance jobs that return disabled equipment to a safe working condition or thru regular routine or preventative activities, maintain equipment in good, safe working condition to eliminate unscheduled outages;

  • Install new equipment or making modifications to existing equipment that will enhance the operation of the process equipment;

  • Troubleshoot PCS equipment or system failures to determine an appropriate solution;

  • Participate in reviews regarding repairs, replacements, failure analysis, installations and modifications of electrical and instrumentation equipment;

  • Perform calibration and testing of PCS systems and related equipment;

  • Have basic computer knowledge, understanding of diagrams, prints, NFPA 70E and use of multimeter;

  • Observe all company work and safety procedures;

  • Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and facilities;

  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent;

  • Four years (post high school) experience in any of the following fields is required:

  • Documented vocational or technical training in Industrial Instrumentation or Industrial Electrical Maintenance;

  • Instrumentation or Industrial Electrical Maintenance;

  • Industrial Instrumentation experience;

  • Industrial Electrical Maintenance experience;

  • Distributive Controls Systems (DCS) or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience;

  • Installation, maintenance and calibration of analyzer systems;

  • Applicable Military experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Programming and troubleshooting experience on Emerson Delta V DCS;

  • Siemens Building Automation system troubleshooting experience;

  • Experience with process analyzers (pH, Oxygen, etc.);

  • Low or Medium voltage experience (24VAC-600VAC) (601VAC 15kVAC);

  • Experience with packaging and/or robotics equipment;

  • Experience working with ultrasonic analysis, IR Scans or PDMA.
