Description
The Project Manager – Consumer Packaged Goods Start Up Consulting will be responsible for managing start-up planning efforts for clients in the Food and Consumer Products, Industrial, and Manufacturing markets at Burns & McDonnell.
Position Description
Senior or executive leader in the Food & Consumer Products/CPG industry
Direct manufacturing and/or process management experience
Direct strategic and operational start-up management experience (GSUM/VSU technologies)
(optional) Operational or Consulting firm industry experience
Start-up Management, VSU (Vertical Start-up) methodology execution experience, and CQV Planning
FDA/GMP compliance knowledge, including AQ/IQ/OQ/PQ execution experience (preferred)
Capital program management qualifications and/or work experience
Manufacturing & Supply Chain qualifications and/or work experience
Collaborative work experience with strategic project management teams
Collaborative work experience with operational and/or executive leadership teams ()
Strong/Influential communications with executive teams internal & external to home organization
(optional) Process Management qualifications and/or continuous improvement work experience
(optional) Cost reduction / savings program management qualifications and/or work experience
Additional Skills
Project Planning & Alignment Demonstrate strong proficiency in developing operational and project level success criteria with start-up teams. Lead success criteria discussions across functions, levels, and organizations
Strategic and Detail Orientation Build a strong and proactive point-to-point relationship with the client’s project manager and executives; position the client’s project manager to be successful.
Team Development Assemble, develop and charter multi-skilled/experienced teams for start-up consulting
Cross-team Collaboration effectiveness Motivate the participating client lead(s), operating and sponsor team to develop plans and proactively provide data and perspective to drive project start-up success
Performance Management Motivate high performance and proactively address individual BMcD team member’s needs for perspective and direct feedback to enable improved effectiveness
Project Requirement Assessment Effectively assemble the right mix of skills on the GSUM/Vertical Start-up team
Multi-Tasking Effectiveness Manage 2-3 project consulting efforts simultaneously, with maximum quality
Report Preparation Lead the preparation of preliminary and final review packages. Provide the client with quality data for internal processing and gaining alignment
Analysis Tools Development and Customization Leverage current GSUM/VSU tools and actively participate in the development of additional assessment tools; demonstrate proficiency to coach team to input and use throughout the consulting engagement
Early Learnings and Recommendations Documentation Guide BMcD team members to effectively report information at the right level for weekly client meetings and reports
Tactical Progress Reporting Proactively communicate start-up plan status to the client on a weekly basis
Next Work Stage Education Effectively communicate/teach client though out the start-up life cycle
Pursuit Management Actively engage with business development managers to identify new opportunities. Effectively share the start-up consulting proposition
Proposal Management Lead the development of proposals; develop thorough proposals that align with the anticipated context of content and deliverables
Project Management Directly monitor and report the status of team hours and schedule; manage necessary changes to both scope and team to support overall projects success for the client
Qualifications
B.S. Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Structural, or other)
(optional) Architectural Design, Industrial Design or Construction Management
Minimum 7 years related experience, including 3 or more years managing engineering or architectural projects.
Senior or executive level Manufacturing/Supply Chain management in Food & Consumer Products industry strongly desired
Direct manufacturing and/or process management experience highly preferred
Direct strategic and start up consulting experience
Direct budget management experience
AEC and/or Consulting firm industry experience
Operational or Consulting firm industry experience
