The team – Supply Chain & Network Operations

We work with clients to solve their most complex and strategic operational challenges. Our team spans the supply chain from procurement to manufacturing and all through connecting the supply to the customer. In today’s world we can’t do that without working together across the supply chain and using data and analytics to get our clients insights in real time, all the time. Many of our clients are trying to keep up with companies based solely on an interconnected supply chain; we modernize their supply chains using artificial intelligence, machine learning and connected products resulting in a competitive asset for the entire organization.

The role – Smart Factory @ Wichita Experience Manager

Deloitte and Wichita State University (WSU) have partnered to create an immersive and cutting-edge experience center at The Smart Factory @ Wichita. The innovative space will be designed for customized, interactive client experiences, and will be furnished with Industry 4.0 technologies – the application of physical and digital technologies from, startups and leading manufacturing hardware and software solution providers, in pursuit of enhanced performance and value (however defined).

The Smart Factory @ Wichita team is currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Experience Manager to own the creative integration and daily operations for The Smart Factory @ Wichita immersive experience. This role will report directly to the Supply Chain & Network Operations Offering senior leadership and work closely with teams across and external to the organization to deliver an immersive experience for our visitors, clients and alliance partners. This role is self-directed, providing autonomy over the client and other visitor engagement process as well as the exhibition of technology throughout the experience center and the smart factory floor. Other visitors may include students, alliance partners, internal stakeholders, government officials and others. Engagements are expected to include a combination of in-person and virtual experiences.

This candidate should have a passion for technology and design, and strong working knowledge in production / experience design, storytelling, storyboarding, creative development, and project management. Familiarity with the application of manufacturing technologies and professional experience in manufacturing, technology development, and project management are highly desirable.

Work you’ll do:

Create and manage the Industry 4.0 Experience

  • Design, plan and optimize The Smart Factory @ Wichita experience, including tours, workshops, and other activities showcasing the opportunities made possible using advanced digital and physical technologies, and to conceptualize ways in which guests can take advantage of those opportunities within their own organizations.

  • Identify, select, and help deploy tools that promote a positive, memorable experience for in-person, virtual or hybrid engagement.

  • Create experiences that help set a foundation for a strong, lasting client relationships that help us get to the heart of what matters most to our clients / visitors.

  • Establish policies and procedures to maintain safety for tour participants throughout the facility, including emergency procedures / action plans and incident reporting

  • Conduct visitor-specific preparatory research, and engage with relevant stakeholders (internal and client) to gather information on the context, expectations, and goals of each visit, virtual or in-person

  • Facilitate interactive workshops with clients / visitors and internal stakeholders to identify opportunity areas and explore desired outcomes

  • Utilize visual documentation methods to enable co-creation and capture workshop discussion in real-time

  • Help position Deloitte as an informed, proactive, trusted advisor and implementor of smart factory initiatives to push towards their business goals or desired outcomes

Relationships & People Development

  • Develop working relationships with clients, internal business units and support functions, vendors, and other ancillary service providers to ensure seamless delivery of the smart factory experience

  • Mentor, coach, and assist in the development of team members; meet regularly with team members to understand issues and assess workload, service challenges, and provide continuous, ongoing performance feedback and development planning

  • Serve as the face of Deloitte on the WSU campus to engage students and staff, build relationships, and create positive interactions with our academic partners

  • Collaborate with client / visitor stakeholders to organize and facilitate experience activities (e.g. internal brainstorming sessions, internal team training, thought leadership workshops, client roundtables, advisory board panels, etc.)

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience in conceptual disciplines (writing, pitching, brainstorming) and executional proficiency (including digital and video production)Experience in diverse group facilitation, including groups of senior organizational leaders

  • Experience developing innovative, entertaining and engaging experiences through the creative application of cutting-edge technology

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time

  • Ability to travel up to 50% (While up to 50% is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)

Preferred:

  • A natural communicator with a knack for telling clear and compelling stories via excellent verbal and written skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field (Marketing, Communication, Design Thinking, etc.)

  • Prior experience with Industry 4.0 technologies or Supply Chain / Manufacturing solutions, either in the context of strategy, physical application or academic study

  • Familiar with a wide variety of basic manufacturing processes including machining, stamping, injection molding, etc.

  • Basic knowledge of digital manufacturing technologies such as digital twin, artificial intelligence, and machine learning

  • Prior consulting experience or visual design skills are a plus
