Job Description

The Systems Operations & Automation (SOA) Team is seeking a Systems/Network Administrator to join their team. Reporting to the Systems Operations & Automation Supervisor, this team is responsible for server operations, systems management, configuration management, platforms management (Azure, SaaS based apps, etc.), and assisting with process automation. This position will specifically focus on software infrastructure and batch processing. Ideal candidates would have knowledge with SCCM (Systems Center Configuration Manager).

Successful candidates will be hardworking and self-motivating, like working on a team, but also capable of completing a project on time and on your own. Individuals will look for areas to improve processes, as well as enjoy learning new technology. Top candidates will be capable of developing scripts, programs, and workflows to automate tasks and processes and will understand the business impact and how to interpret business requirements.

There is an on-call rotation and you may potentially work nights and weekends based on business needs. Travel may be up to 5% to attend a conference or a training / meeting that may be at various JHA locations.


This position can be worked out of: Lenexa, KS, Springfield, MO, Monett, MO or be 100% REMOTE

About this Team:

SOA currently consists of 24 members across several disciplines. We’re dispersed team with associates in multiple US location, including remote. A normal day may include: testing patches or software, researching and implementing new technology, creating/updating documentation and diagrams, updating configurations, answering support questions, troubleshooting issues, writing scripts, testing and deploying code to production servers, working with internal groups to automate processes and configurations.


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Windows or Linux server administration.

  • Must have working experience PowerShell scripting.

  • Must be able to work on-call rotation and may potentially work nights and weekends based on business needs.


  • Experience with one or more modern scripting languages (e.g. Ruby, Bash, Python, Perl etc.).

  • Experience with one or more automation tools (Chef Automate, System Center Orchestrator, System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft Service Management Automation, Azure Automation, Ansible, Salt and Puppet etc.).

  • Applicable industry standard certification(s) preferred.

  • Experience with Git, GitHub, GitLab.

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure concepts and principles.

  • Basic project management skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.


  • Provide operational system administration support for enterprise applications in a highly available, 24x7x365 environment.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

  • Assist with IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of applications programs in support of one or more functional areas.

  • Analyze, install, acquire, modify and support operating systems, database or utilities software.

  • Perform troubleshooting, resolution and problem analysis.

  • Monitor alerting systems and servers.

  • Review issues logs and network capacity reports to identify trends and solutions that should be implemented enterprise-wide.

  • Maintain in-depth documentation of activities and system configuration.

  • Assist with the preparation of systems assessments or certifications.

  • Assist with the execution of test processes and scenarios, track results, and make recommendations of system fixes.

  • Assist with disaster recovery initiatives. Implement solutions to streamline disaster recovery.
