As a Software Development Engineering Manager at Mastercard, you are expected to perform the following general duties: Ensure the team effectively collaborates with partners across multiple regions and time zones Provide development and architecture guidance to team members Ensure the team builds high quality software adhering to our engineering principles Drive blameless postmortems culture to identify root causes of incidents and implement learnings Automate and simplify all aspects of software delivery and development by actively evangelizing the need to automate and simplify where needed. Provide and facilitate timely feedback, coaching in-the-moment, and mentoring for staff at all levels Hold people and teams accountable and effectively delegate responsibilities down to the team Recruit and hire the right talent, always bringing in someone better than at least half the individuals in the role in the organization todayAll About YouEducation Bachelor or master's degree in Computer Science or equivalentQualifications Has the ability to motivate and energize a team to act towards achieving a common goal and the ability to improve oneself and others Has skills in building modern Web applications using open frameworks to achieve reuse and reduce development times (e.g. Angular, React, TypeScript, Bootstrap) Has ability to write secure code in two or more languages (e.g., Java, C#, JavaScript) and familiar with secure coding standards (e.g. OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and vulnerabilities Has skills to document and coach team on the development practices and coding guidelines (e.g. branching, peer reviews, library use, logging, scanning rules, test driven development, error handling) Understands and elaborates technical debt and operational issues to drive prioritization discussions with stakeholders to improve run experience Has skills to drive trade-off discussions to set right development capacity based on value drivers (e.g. regulatory, security, new business, market parity, technical debt) Has skills to undertake a technical review of code across applications and their dependencies to look for anti-patterns and promote continuous refactoring Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)Due to COVID-19, most of our employees are working from home.
