Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Bioprocess technology Shift team in the Global Supply Animal Health division located at our St. Joseph, MO, facility. As an Intern, you will be responsible to support the onsite technology shift scientists developing media and optimizing cell growth for the improvement of our veterinary vaccines. You will provide assistance to develop processes for the manufacturing of viral vaccines in mammalian or insect cell cultures as well as carrying out relevant tests to determine the quality of the antigen and/or vaccine in the laboratory.

Duties & Responsibilities:
· Preparation of growth media for the cultivation of mammalian/insect cells
· Cultivation of mammalian/insect cells in various growth systems (stationary, suspension)
· Aseptic sampling of cultures and analysis of cells, substrates and metabolites
· Assistance in writing protocols and evaluating data
· Execution of biological assays to determine the quantity of cells, viruses, product produced
Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing.
Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
Major must be related to the field of internship.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
· Experience with the cultivation of mammalian and/or insect cells
· Skilled in aseptic techniques
· Experience in the preparation of growth media
· Experience in biological assays (such as cell counting, analysis of substrates and metabolites, ELISA, titrations)
· Good documentation, writing and math skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
