In this position, the incumbent will be trained in the setup, operations, and troubleshooting of the equipment in the production areas. Additional duties will include documentation of work and specific computer functions. Must integrate company initiatives such as BPE into work practices. Responsible for safely producing vaccines, which meet all product specifications in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practice standards.

Duties &Responsibilities:

  • Perform dutiesassociated with aseptic processes, weighing, measuring, counting, calculations,sampling, and verifications required for biological production processes inaccordance with batch production records (BPR) and in compliance with currentgood manufacturing practice (cGMP) standards, all current safety standards and siteprocedures.

  • Understands and canperform basic operation of production equipment and ensures all equipment,instruments and production materials are released and available for use. Lookup and perform transactions within the electronic inventory management system.

  • To overseeproduction processes, cleaning, environmental monitoring and personnel andperform in-process batch quality checks per the written procedures. Knows andfollows safety rules, wears appropriate safety equipment and maintains propersafety practices at all times.

  • BL-3 technicians arerequired to participate in the BIAH Encephalomyelitis Program without healthrestrictions.

  • Basic computerskills to create and update standard operating procedures and write deviationreports, and to complete all training as assigned to include general companyprocedures, area procedures, equipment operation, computer operation, safety,GMP, BPE, and other as needed.

  • To generate orcollect new ideas about workplace and processes.

  • Performs all Companybusiness in accordance with all regulations (e.g., USDA, OSHA, etc.) andCompany policy and procedures. Whenviolations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported tomanagement. Demonstrated high ethical and professional standards with allbusiness

  • contacts in order tomaintain BIAH’s excellent reputation in the community.


  • Bachelors degreefrom an accredited institution in Microbiology or other related Science; Or anAssociates degree from an accredited institution in Microbiology or otherrelated Science, plus two (2) years of relevant experience; or a High Schooldiploma, plus four (4) years of relevant experience.

  • Basic computerskills with Word, Excel and Electronic Management Systems, basic biologicalequipment knowledge and/or experience (i.e. fermentation, centrifuge,concentration units), basic understanding of biological organisms.

  • Ability to read,interpret and conform to batch records, Quality and Safety requirements.

  • Ability to operateapplicable ERP system.

  • Requires basicknowledge of manufacturing function, acquaintance with and generalunderstanding of aspects of the production process and ability to apply thisknowledge to situations ordinarily encountered.

  • Required to applyknowledge in the assistance of training others.


  • Must be legallyauthorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing totake a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  • Must be 18 years ofage or older
