JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly competent and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Hadoop Administrator. This position is responsible for maintaining Hortonworks/Cloudera Hadoop clusters on-premises. Along with other technical staff, this position will be involved in the following activities:

  • Hadoop administration: break-fix, software maintenance, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, high availability, applying best practices

  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution

  • Level 2 support for all Hadoop software and applications

  • Cluster monitoring

  • Collaborate with end users to resolve complex issues/provide solutions that meet business needs and benefit system performance

  • Troubleshoot application problems related to configuration, network, and server issues, and provide solutions to recovery. Participate in postmortems to avoid repeated incidents.

  • User support and provisioning access

  • Process improvement, including the creation of new automation to streamline manual tasks

  • Develop and update documentation, departmental technical procedures, and user guides.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of systems analysis experience, systems programming experience or combination of both

  • 4+ years of experience with Big Data or Hadoop tools such as Spark, Hive, Kafka and Map

  • 3+ years of Red Hat Linux or UNIX experience

  • 2+ years of Hadoop Hortonworks experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of design methodology, Infrastructure operations support or engineering

  • 2+ years of experience with Agile, Kanban, or Lean methodology

  • Knowledge and understanding of technology support: open tickets or calls with vendors

  • Strong technical and quantitative skills

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Kerberos and Apache Ranger for configuring security

  • Able to monitor Hadoop cluster connectivity and performance. Manage and analyze Hadoop log files. File system management and monitoring.

  • Experience with application deployment tools is a plus: uDeploy (Urbancode Deploy), Jenkins, GIT

  • Good hands-on experience of Linux, its commands and scripting are required

  • Experience with Agile methodologies, Jira, Confluence

  • PAC2000/Remedy experience

  • Previous experience with Wells Fargo is not required but would be a plus

Job Expectations

  • Ability to work on call as assigned

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed or scheduled

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
