Position Summary:Working under minimal supervision, provide and document animal care and in vivo technical services for mice and rats in accordance with company SOPs and regulations and guidelines of the Animal Welfare Act and the Public Health Service. Manage rodent colonies as well as dose and sample animals in specialized situations including biohazard, quarantine, and bio exclusion. Weekend and Holiday work may be required.Job Description:This position will assist with the daily care of research animals housed within the laboratory animal facility. Duties include, but not limited to:Perform animal husbandry for mice and rats (care, feeding, watering, and cleaning).Provide technical support for research investigators (oral, intravenous dosing, blood and tissue collection, various inflammation and tumor growth measurements).Maintain proper sanitation, environment and health status of housing units.Maintain/verify proper record keeping (census, animal health, and document sanitation and equipment maintenance).Participate in continuing education and training including blood and tissue testing and analysis.Job Requirements:High school diploma or GED and three years relevant animal care experience and AALAS certification; OR five years relevant animal experience and a proficiency statement from LARC; OR two years of relevant animal care experience and 64 credit hours; OR Associate degree in life or animal science.Ability to have direct physical contact with mice and rats.Willingness to participate in Occupational Health Program for employees, including receiving immunizations recommended by Occupational Health Services.Willingness to work with hazardous agents.Computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Work, Internet Explorer, Outlook.Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.Preferred Qualifications:LAT.Working Conditions / Physical Demands:Work will involve moving heavy objects (racks of filled water bottles, 25 pound bags of feed), repetitive motions, some delicate operations (drawing blood, giving injections).The person in this position must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without any accommodation.Rotational weekend and holiday work will be required.Salary Range:NegotiableVEVRAA Federal ContractorWe request Priority Protected Veteran and Disabled Referrals for all of our locations within the state.We are an equal opportunity employer.
