The Production Manager will assist the Plant Manager in the planning, coordination, organization and effective control of the production operations and is directly responsible for meeting all safety, quality, cost, and service performance targets.
Additionally, the Production Manager will be a key driver in the site's continuous improvement program and will lead a variety of process improvement exercises as required
Ensures that all personnel within the Production department are properly trained in safety and quality policies and procedures and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Works closely with Production Planning to ensure that machine changeovers are properly sequenced and prioritized for the most effective use of resources and time.
Utilizes the production schedule to ascertain data such as quantities, specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to effectively determine staffing requirements and capacity constraints
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Drives production operations team to meet or exceed all performance metrics across safety, quality, cost and service.
Ensures metrics are effectively measured, displayed, and updated across the shop (Visual Factory).
Analyzes data provided in production and operating reports to identify opportunities for performance improvement and coordinates with the Plant Manager to schedule process improvement events and projects to address.
Lead Root Cause Counter-Measure (RCCM) exercises to effectively resolve operational issues related to safety, quality, cost and service
No Degree Required
Minimum of five years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; prior management experience preferred.
Experience working in a 24/7 environment a plus; must have the ability to respond to emergency production issues for all shifts when necessary and as required, including weekends and nights.
Previous experience in the plastics industry is required; plastics blow molding experience is preferred.
Experience and a working knowledge of Lean principles (5S, Kaizen, etc.) and/or continuous improvement methodologies is required; formal training in such programs is preferred
