The Boeing Company Software Configuration Management Specialist in Saint Louis, Missouri

The Boeing Company is currently seeking aSoftware Configuration Management Specialistto join the Product Systems Platform Build team. The candidate will have the responsibility for configuration control of the development, test, and production baselines that enable Boeing engineers to design, model, build, and support the best products in aerospace today - and those that will take us into our Second Century. The Product Systems Platform Build team provides comprehensive software solutions to rapidly access and visually transform complex engineering and manufacturing product data. Responsibilities of the build team include development and integration for a variety of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and in house software application supporting our engineering/manufacturing teams.

This position will allow candidates to work with a diverse team of skilled and motivated co-workers to collaborate on results. Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads the authoring of configuration management (CM) plans that reflect the processes and procedures to be used to implement and maintain a CM program for the lifecycle of the product. Works at the program or functional level.

  • Manage software configuration items of the computing products within a given scope. (using Team Foundation Server, ClearCase, ClearQuest, etc.)

  • Participate in the development and implementation of Configuration and Data Management standards, processes, systems and tools.

  • Utilize data gathered from customers to assist in the definition of Configuration and Data Management requirements for product hardware, software and engineering design data systems.

  • Performs and manages software build packages and coordinates software deliveries with software IPDM Development and Program teams.

  • Participate in all stages of the software development life cycle.

  • Captures, records and maintains product configuration information to ensure that current and historical information can be accurately determined through the product life cycle. Identifies the reports that should be generated and creates standards.

  • Assists in reviewing and creating software configuration management documentation and procedures

  • Perform analysis, documentation, and optimization of existing processes for the development of either new or improved automation.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Education):

  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  • A technical degree is defined as any degree in a mathematic, scientific, or information technology field of study.

  • 3 or more years’ experience with software configuration management.

  • 3 or more years' experience with all stages of the software development life cycle.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software configuration management to include configuration control boards, baseline management, full system life-cycle administration, data collection, metrics and reporting, etc.

  • Experience with the concepts and processes of managing a software system throughout the entire life cycle.

  • Ability to participate in all stages of the software development life cycle.

  • Must have excellent debugging and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

    Typical Education/Experience:

  • Technical bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
