We are currently seeking highly-skilled Machinists to work in ourmanual machiningdepartment. Will need to be proficient in setting up and operating knee mills and engine lathes. We offer competitive wages, practice 5S principles for efficiency and effectiveness in the shop, and work in a climate-controlled environment.Skills/Qualifications:Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation, Supply Management, Tooling, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail, Good JudgmentProficient in interpreting blueprints and creating a plan to machine a part to specifications with little to no instructionAbility to document the process used to manufacture the part to simplify future set-ups.Should be mechanically inclined and have the ability to troubleshoot and think on your feetMust be able to use sine bars, offset boring heads, boring bars, and other cutting tools to produce tight tolerance featuresMinimum 5 years experience with manual mills, lathes, etc.Must be able to communicate with other shifts and work well in a team environmentJig grinding, honing, and broaching experience is helpfulKnowledge of basic shop math and trigonometryDuties:Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GDandT).Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.Maintains safe operations by adhering to 5S + 1 safety procedures and regulations.Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Founded in 1957, Seyer Industries is a small business located in St. Peters, Missouri, specializing in high-complexity machined-parts and assemblies for the aerospace and maritime industries.
