Greene County Government PC Maintenance Technician III in Springfield, Missouri

Purpose of PositionThe purpose of this position is to provide advanced personal computer hardware and software support, Windows/Unix server support and administration, under the supervision of the Computer Operations Manager for Greene County.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals.Installs, inspects and tests personal computer systems to ensure proper operations including the repair or replacement of defective parts and software/device drivers.Upgrades software, patches and operating systems on a continuous basis.Troubleshoots hardware and software problems.Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security and systems groups.Supports, and maintains LAN, Windows 2008/2013 server operations and applications.Documents, maintains, upgrades or replaces hardware and software systems.Communicates and coordinates work orders with Computer Operations Supervisor and other department personnel to resolve problems, and correct errors.Coordinates installation and installs network systems and cabling.Manages Anti-virus\Update server\email server\mobile devicesRefers major system problems to the Computer Operations Manager or Director.Trains other PC Maintenance Technician(s) on new technology, acts as first level for problem resolution and may lead and direct the work of other technicians.Additional Tasks and ResponsibilitiesWhile the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.Assist with Phone changes, voice mail Jabber, LD codesAnswers telephone and takes messages.Performs duties of Help Desk/Computer Operator.Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions Vocational/technical training in personal computer hardware and software installation, maintenance and user support with at least four years related experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Associate degree in Computer Science, Windows NT Administration, and UNIX and programming experience may be required. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
