CarShare enables our members to enjoy a fully automated rental experience both internationally and domestically. The CarShare division operates in the United Kingdom, Canada, and is offered throughout the United States for university campuses, businesses and government agencies. CarShare rentals can be made by the hour, day or week using the Enterprise CarShare Mobile Application or Website. We also offer booking capabilities through third party applications.

The CarShare IT solution team is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the products and capabilities that make car sharing possible at Enterprise. Key areas of focus include in-car technologies linked via cellular data networks (telematics) along with systems that enable member on-boarding, reservation and availability, pricing and billing functionality. Additionally, consumer facing web sites and mobile application are critical to the model. As a technology team goes, we utilize a little bit of everything set in a challenging, fun and exciting environment.

This Engineer 1 position will be responsible for maintaining a deep technical knowledge and understanding of our telematics solutions and the software programs it integrates with. This role will work on a variety of environments including telematics hardware, Java and PHP applications. You will also help to establish and maintain a quality support process for these solutions in order to promote a collaborative partnership with our stakeholders and assist in solving problems as timely as possible.

Additional Responsibilites:

  • Investigates, diagnoses, and resolves complex telematics issues without known solutions; may make recommendations and define action plans.

  • Contributes to engineering efforts focused on telematics communication between our reservation software platforms and the fleet of CarShare vehicles

  • Supports efforts to identify and eliminate the root cause of issues

  • Tracks, diagnoses, replicates, troubleshoots, and resolves escalated (Tier2/3) issues involving the end user computing environment and possible software or vehicle issues.

  • Provides informal training to other teams that support the technology

  • Develops and enhances elements of technology for Java and PHP applications; may assist with the design

  • Tests, researches and investigates the effectiveness of elements of in-car hardware technology

  • Implements, operates and maintains elements of in-car hardware technology

  • Maintains documentation for elements of technology

  • Maintains established service level agreements to meet customer expectations and quality standards.

  • Provides on-call support for telematics solutions and software programs it integrates with

  • Protects our customers, our employees, and our brands by incorporating security and compliance in all decisions and daily job responsibilities; follows security policies and procedures.

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future

  • 1 or more years of related experience

  • Knowledge of and experience with object-oriented programming

  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred

  • Professional development experience using Java and/or PHP

  • Experience with various technology and tools, such as, Bitbucket, Jira, Jenkins, Service Integration, HTML5/JavaScript/CSS

  • Comfort/Exposure/Experience with Automotive technologies
