Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist you will provide technical safety, health, and environmental expertise to employees, safety committees, and/or other work teams and appropriate coaching to the Office, DC, Facilities, Engineering, IT, Finance, HR, Quality, Maintenance, and Manufacturing. You will coordinate the environmental, safety, and health function plant-wide by assisting in the implementation of effective Management Systems that include: policies, procedures, training programs based on task analysis, needs assessment, and Standard Operating Procedures. You will assist in continuous improvement events (Kaizen/TPM/Lean) focusing on environmental, health, and safety processes, policies, and training initiatives.
Develop and implement management systems for safety, health, and environmental to ensure the company is OSHA and EPA compliant
Identify the root cause(s) of safety and environmental risks and assist in developing recommended corrective actions and implementing appropriate countermeasures.
Provide support and participate with incident investigations to include environmental, safety, and any other compliance issues. Establish a timeline for resolution of identified risks in a timely fashion. Establish a plan of action to promote employee involvement in corrective action activities.
Assist in employee safety observations and give feedback to correct at-risk behaviors and conditions to reduce the risks at the site
Maintain records in an organized fashion to ensure ready access by state and local authorities as required.
Establish chart and trend statistical and performance-based measures on leading safety and environmental indicators and deficiencies
Research, evaluate, and develop site-specific safety and environmental training
Deliver instructor-led training in safety and environmental processes, from basic to advanced.
Provide input for organizational safety and environmental initiatives
Establish and assist in conducting layered process audits for safety, health, and environmental inspections for all work areas, and assure that corrective actions are taken and completed regarding deficiencies noted through the inspections
Responsible for reporting food, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance to plant or division personnel with authority to initiate action
Demonstrate leadership for all Keurig Dr Pepper policies and procedures
Perform other duties as requested by site leadership
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Physical Science, or the equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
Related experience preferred in safety, health, and environmental program implementation, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Computer proficiency, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Hands-on experience in developing and maintaining OSHA and EPA compliance with emphasis on employee involvement
Basic understanding of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
Experience in ergonomic solutions in a manufacturing environment
Experience with water management programs such as still-water treatment, waste water, and/or storm water is preferred
Experience with hazardous waste programs is preferred
Experience working in Integrated Lean Six Sigma environment, TPM, and Kaisen Continuous Improvement Events is preferred
Experience working in team based high performance work teams is desired
Training Instructor experience with the ability to prepare concise, understandable documentation, technical writing, and lesson plan development
