Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Building Services. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Position provides recognized procedures and techniques to safely perform duties repairing and servicing of equipment. The mechanic will primarily work on generators, cooling towers, pumps, and chillers. The mechanic will assist others on larger projects and will perform other duties as assigned. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists with repairs and maintains mechanical equipment in accordance with operating manuals and manufacturer's specifications. 2. Assists with preventative maintenance and repairs on chillers including punching the chiller tubes and basic chiller repairs. 3. Assists with preventative maintenance and repairs on cooling towers including cleaning of the cooling tower basins. 4. Assists with the preventative maintenance and repairs on generators including oil changes, refueling generators, battery changes, and monthly generator testing. 5. Assists with the preventative maintenance on air compressors, pumps, university vehicles. 6. Documents the testing required by governmental agencies, preventive maintenance on equipment, and deficiencies. 7. Develop and maintain building information pertaining maintained equipment. 8. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent high school certification with 2-year Trade School Certificate. * Two years of related experience. * Must have a valid Missouri CDL with a hazmat endorsement. Preferred Qualifications * 2-year technical certificate or degree with two years of field related experience. * Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. * Basic knowledge of current computer skills i.e. laptop, tablet, smart phone, and fluency in common programs. * Display good conflict resolution qualities when dealing with peers and customers. * Ability and willingness to learn from experienced technicians. * Mechanical amplitude and ability to troubleshoot minor issues with minimal guidance. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $21.18 - $26.99 per hour.
