IP Scientist - Plant Biotechnology (Chesterfield, MO in St Louis)
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Intellectual Property (IP) Scientist - Plant Biotechnology (Chesterfield, MO in St. Louis), are to:
Proactively monitor research progress and identify patentable opportunities;
Coordinate interactions among research scientists and patent attorneys;
Search patent and technical databases;
Conduct FTO evaluation and IP landscape assessment;
Provide support to patent preparation and prosecution and draft patent applications;
Plan, prepare and deliver IP education to research scientists;
Manage IP clearance for external presentation, publication, collaboration sharing, and material transfer.

Master’s degree with at least three years of research experience OR Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Plant Science, Plant Biotechnology, Crop Physiology, or another closely related scientific field of study;
Self-motivated to succeed individually as well as on a team level;
Work and deliver under stringent timelines;
Demonstrate ability in critical and analytical thinking and attention to detail;
Work effectively with diverse stakeholders;
Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills with ability to clearly express complex scientific concepts in written and oral presentations.
Experience and knowledge in IP and U.S. patent laws and practice;
US Patent Agent or preparing for Patent Bar Exam;
Experience in plant biotechnology, technology evaluation and transfer.
Domestic relocation may be available for this role.
