Job Summary

The Maintenance Planner is accountable for planning and scheduling maintenance work in order to optimize asset and process reliability at optimal cost – ensuring assets never impact the schedule. The function role includes planning, managing and performing machinery and building asset care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Exemplifying a safety-first mindset and ensuring compliance to the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.Maintaining Regulatory Compliance

  • In collaboration with Lean Deployment partners, apply the Planning and Scheduling steps of the Global Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Program to achieve the required levels of maturity

  • Setup and maintain asset hierarchy and history

  • Develop (with input) the preventive maintenance program

  • Internal Customer liaison for non-emergency work

  • Create and manage job plans and estimates for preventive maintenance

  • Capacity scheduling (full day’s work for each preventive maintenance team member)

  • Work schedules by planned maintenance priority

  • Coordinate availability of manpower, parts, materials, equipment in preparation for planned maintenance work execution

  • Arrange for delivery of materials to job site to ensure planned maintenance can be completed as scheduled

  • Ensures even low priority planned maintenance jobs are accomplished

  • Maintain records, indexes, charts

  • Reports on performance goals

  • The task of managing emergency work is covered by the Team Leader role


  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 5 years of experience in Maintenance Planning and working knowledge of CMMS maintenance systems

  • 3 years experience in Mechanical and/or electrical field

  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.

  • U.S. persons with ability to obtain a Department of Defense Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Detailed knowledge of maintenance systems (CMMS)

  • Able to estimate labor hours, materials, and can visualize the job to be performed

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate up, down, and across the business

  • Able to read blue prints

  • Proven structured problem solving experience

  • Professional qualification in an engineering discipline

  • Experience working with a lean operating model/production system

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification by a reputable certifying body or benchmark company
