Job Title: Material Handler
Position Overview: Primary responsibility is the supervision of activities within the plant through assigned team leaders or other subordinate associates. Responsible to ensure production objectives are met in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. The Successful candidate will be one who is looking to advance his/her manufacturing career through development and implementation of standard manufacturing principles and will have the desire to promote to high levels of responsibility within the organization.
Role Summary/Purpose: This position is for a Material Handler. The material handler loads raw materials and prepares produced parts for final manufacturing processes. Under general supervision, perform a wide variety of custodial duties in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment; and perform related work as required.
Essential Job Responsibilities: Operate a powered industrial vehicle sit down forklift and combi-lift and crane to move raw materials, components, supplies finished goods Load and unload trailers as required Responsible for keeping chip level in the red chip bins outside, move chip chute and prevent chips from backing up the chute, RAKE chips in red chip bins. Dump solid scrap bin in shop and scrap bin outside accepting bar ends from chip spinner Coolant oil leveled off in each machine Hydraulic oil leveled off in each machine Proper material tag hanging in correct place Pick and pull finished goods for shipping Organize pallet area in the back on regular basis Complete forklift inspection on a daily basis Ability to work overtime with little to no notice as necessary for customer requirements Ability to prioritize and organize materials based on customer orders Troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise Keeps work areas clean and safe Demonstrated mathematical ability to count accurately and follow written instructions Must be able to manage multiple, complex instructions simultaneously Must be able to safely and repetitively lift and carry a 50 pound load Ability to work long hours in a warehouse preparing and loading freight Familiarity with computers Operate mobile equipment including forklift, manlift, scissorlift, and overhead cranes. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize to ensure minimum interruption to process. Multi-task job function that includes assisting mechanics and operators as necessary. Ability to make decisions on equipment repairs and be self-motivated. Ability to work well with others is a must.
Qualifications/Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent Excellent verbal communication skills are a must Work hour flexibility Able to work on Saturdays or Sundays as needed Displayed confidence. Capable of using hand tools power tools to create shipping containers Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines Strong team building skills Knowledge of manufacturing operations and practices, preferred but not necessary Ability to interact with all levels of the organization Strong attention to detail Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully
