Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week. Must be available evenings and weekends. Average is two weekends per month for event management. Department Name/Job Location This position is for the Edison Theatre and 560 Music Center. This position is for the Danforth Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Production Manager is a full-time 12-month position reporting directly to the operations manager and working closely with the technical directors at Edison Theatre and the 560 Music Center. Duties and responsibilities include coordinating and disseminating event schedules/logistics with the technical directors and facility users; training and supervising front-of-house staff, ushers and production assistants; and assisting the operations manager with payroll, accounting processes, and marketing. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Rental/Staff Management * Serve as liaison for outside organizations, Washington University student groups and departments who are renting/utilizing the Edison or 560 Music Center. Duties include meeting with prospective renters, providing tours, describing technical systems, and presenting rental inquires to the staff. * Schedule and lead meetings with facility renters and technical staff to discuss technical needs, schedule, and staffing for each event. * Coordinate all aspects of rental events including but not limited to rental schedules, staffing, tech needs, contract execution and post-show reporting. * Create and maintain accurate shared event calendars and files utilized by the staff. * Timely response to event schedule changes and staffing changes. * Provide support with event management and staffing for Department of Music events and performances in the primary 560 Music Center venue spaces. * Serve as Event Manager, as needed, including room/stage set-up, basic audio/video set-up and operation, basic lighting set-up and operation, staff supervision, strike and load-out. * Supervise and assist with lobby set-up for events in Edison Theatre and general set-up in the 560 Music Center, including coordination with Department of Music staff for rehearsals and events. * Assist in the training, scheduling and supervision of the 560 Production Assistants, Edison House Staff and volunteer usher corps for events. * Recruit and maintain volunteer corps for ushering. * Attend staff meetings as necessary. * Assist with load-ins and light focus as necessary. 2. Business Management * Assist in processing, entering, and approving student staff in the university payroll system and department files. * Assist in processing, entering, and approving all documents related to the budget, billing and purchasing. * Maintain Edison and 560 Music Center websites. * Coordinate digital signage and social media marketing efforts. 3. Other Duties as Assigned. Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree. * Ability to lift 25lbs – primarily for lobby and room set-ups. Preferred Qualifications * Minimum three years arts management experience. * Minimum three years technical theater experience and/or music performance practice and production. * Understanding of and experience in general nonprofit management practices. * Knowledge and experience in the training and management of staff student workers and community volunteers. * Basic ability to operate lighting and sound consoles. * Excellent supervisory and motivational management skills. * Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines. * Ability to deal with change in a positive, professional manner. * Strong communication skills. * Excellent organizational and time management skills. * Ability to work with diverse groups, working as part of a team and individually. * Willingness to learn new skills. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $41,301 - $52,630 annually.
