Job Description


Project management is a key capability within Specialty Generics and covers a broad range of activity from cross functional process improvement to strategic transformational business and operational improvement. Performs a critical role in the execution of end to end projects that significantly improve the way our business operates. Project scope consists of budget management, project planning and execution, stakeholder management, and overall business process improvement initiatives. The Project Manager is responsible for the highly visible tactical execution of project initiatives that deliver short and long term results to the business. This role requires the ability to deliver strong results on medium and large scale projects. Continuously drives improvement processes to deliver operational effectiveness. The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and communication of assigned projects or programs.


  • Own strategic business process transformation projects, considering People, Process, and Technology.

  • Develop overall governance program including communication of progress to teams and to key stakeholders across the business.

  • Manage conflicts in scheduling, prioritization, & resourcing arising during the course of project implementation.

  • Manages multiple projects at one time, actively collaborating with internal/external stakeholders, while executing projects with the discipline required to deliver on time and within budget, while also managing scope and ensuring service levels are maintained.

  • Responsible for estimating, planning, and tracking (financials & schedule), as well as building action / risk mitigation plans, all while partnering with key business partners to influence decisions to implement project objectives.

  • Responsible for coordinating efforts between project team members and key stakeholders across the business to determine current and future state processes and leading the project team through implementation.

  • Ensures all projects deliver targeted benefits and are supported by proper documentation, including process maps, standard operating procedures, and other critical financial and operational metrics.

  • Develop scope of work and timelines for various projects.

  • Utilize various project management tools to track and manage projects.

  • Coach and mentor individuals and team to achieve desired project outcomes.

  • Support Project Monarch as required/directed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education: Bachelor degree in Business, Life sciences or Engineering.


  • Seven plus years of pharmaceutical industry experience to include knowledge of manufacturing, supply chain, GMP, and regulatory requirements.


  • Must have prior demonstrated experience seeing medium and large scale projects through.

  • Should have demonstrated experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, contractors/consultants, external vendors and support personnel.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in team management.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal. Should be proficient in developing and organizing project information, and effectively presenting to a range of audiences.

  • Must have experience presenting and making recommendations to senior management.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leading cross functional, complex projects or programs.

  • Certified project management professional preferred.

  • Green belt certification preferred.


  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and various database software. Mastery of Microsoft Project required.

  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.

  • Basic supervisory skills.

  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to perform as part of a team.


This position reports directly to Sr. Director, Manufacturing. Incumbent works independently and provides a high level of initiative and creativity to general duties. No instructions needed on routine work and only general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments. This position must develop a good rapport with functional leaders and teams across the business.

Primary communications are with direct manager, project team members, and may involve written or oral communication, including obtaining or providing information on matters of moderate to significant importance to the organization, and may be of a sensitive nature.


Approximately 80% of time will be spent in the office, 20% of time on the various manufacturing sites. May be required to exert a negligible amount of force continuously and up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. The job involves sitting, walking, and standing, reaching, talking and hearing. The job involves clarity of vision at 20 inches or less with the ability to bring objects into sharp focus. May need the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time.
