Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is for the Health Communication Research Lab. The position is located at Goldfarb Hall. This position is for the Danforth Campus. This position may involve local travel for recruitment activities and meeting with external research partners. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: The Health Communication Research Lab (HCRL) in the School of Social Work conducts research to assess and address health disparities. The individual may contribute to a variety of projects and study activities. The research assistant will: 1) recruit, confirm eligibility, document consent, and collect data in a systematic fashion from participants; 2) assist with training student assistants involved in recruitment, data collection, and quality control; 3) collaboratively work with the research team involved in data collection and participant tracking; 4) assist with data management activities, including organizing, cleaning, quality checks, and coding of variables for analysis; and 5) other duties as assigned. The individual will work independently with supervision from senior staff and faculty, and in collaboration with other research team members. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Recruit and engage with community members and representatives from community organizations in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, in person, telephone, and electronic. 2. Train and collaborate with other team members involved with recruitment and data collection 3. Assist with data management activities, including organizing, cleaning, quality checks, and coding of variables for analysis. 4. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, social sciences, or related field and two years of related work experience in health care, public health, social work, customer service or related field. * Experience recruiting research participants or providing relevant customer service to diverse individuals. * Experience using computer databases to document participant tracking, responses, or related data. Preferred Qualifications * Master’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, social sciences. * Experience working with diverse individuals. * Proficient computer skills. Experience with common reporting tools such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and experience with data entry programs such as Access, FileMaker Pro, Qualtrics, REDCap. * Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. * Highly dependable, organized, and detail-oriented. Will need to follow study protocols and maintain high standards for accuracy in data capture and reporting. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team that includes students, staff and faculty. * Desire to learn new skills, show initiative and independently perform new applications and procedures. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $15.46 - $20.88 per hour.
