Job Information

Washington University of St. Louis Research Opportunities - McDonnell Genome Institute - 50407 in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Type/Schedule

This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.

Department Name/Job Location

This position is in the Department of Genetics - McDonnell Genome Institute. This position is for the Medical School Campus.

Essential Functions

The McDonnell Genome Institute is a world-class genomics institute with a rich history of significant contributions to genomics technology and human health. There has been an explosion of gene mutations (variants) associated with human disease derived from genome sequencing or genome-wide association studies (GWAS). This success has generated a new challenge – understanding the function of these genes and the consequences of their mutation. We are working on developing high-throughput methods to interrogate the impact of specific variants on cellular function. This information will be used to understand the molecular basis of the cellular abnormalities and aid in the diagnosis and treatment of human disease.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about working at the intersection of genomic technology and biology of human disease. They will also be amenable to working with a highly interdisciplinary team that includes data scientists, engineers, physicians, and biologists on projects that interweave cell biology, machine learning, genome editing, genomics, and high content imaging.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience in a laboratory setting or equivalent are encouraged to apply.
