Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Our lab is interested in gastrointestinal health and disease states including chronic inflammation and malignancy. Our research seeks to define novel interactions that affect disease-relevant cell signaling pathways. Investigational tools include modern molecular biology, genetic engineering, microbiome studies, animal models (mice), human tissues, and organoids (mouse and human derived). The goal of our lab is to contribute to the field of intestinal biology in a manner that will ultimately improve care for those affected by Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis and colon cancer. This position assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists with set up and execution of experiments and assays. This includes collection and organization of data for publication. 2. Performs tissue culture using both 2D and 3D culture systems. 3. Performs data entry and maintains data files on research. 4. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. 5. Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures. 6. Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning. 7. Performs additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years. Preferred Qualifications * Cell culture experience. * Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators. * Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports. * Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $14.07 - $18.99 per hour.
