TierPoint, LLC Senior Platform Support Engineer in St. Louis, Missouri

The Senior Platform Engineer will be responsible for deploying, documenting, patching, managing, and retiring a variety of systems and applications in support of internal and customer-facing services. This person will act as a lead engineering resource for the Platform Engineering team and will provide input into the development of new internal systems. This is an independent role that will work alongside a team of Platform Engineers. We are looking for a self-starter who can successfully work across multiple levels – with customers, teammates, vendors, and Executive Management. The Platform Engineer must possess a comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure combined with the ability to execute technical solutions that meet the needs of our customers.

  • Provides quality internal and external customer service surrounding the Company values

  • Installs, maintains and upgrades the systems and technologies that constitute the internal applications (Platforms) used in the support of Datacenter and Hosting customers

  • Executes on production engineering processes, incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management and knowledge management

  • Act as a technical escalation point within Engineering for Platform specific issues

  • Responsible for implementing and guaranteeing process and systems are in place to deliver highly available systems and applications used within the platform ecosystem

  • Creates documentation for supported environments, processes, technical training, and support procedures

  • Ensure proactive and reactive monitoring to detect, predict and resolve abnormal conditions in the environment

  • Provide additional support when necessary for lab infrastructure related to the support of test Platform systems

  • Drives efficient and effective resolution of issues

  • Participates in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage of critical internal systems

  • Other duties as assigned

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in technology fields

  • 5+ years supporting infrastructure and services spanning geographically dispersed datacenters

  • 4+ years in senior design/support role managing Windows AD

  • 2+ years in senior support role managing Windows Server utilizing PowerShell scripting

  • 2+ years of experience in a Virtualized environment with VMware, Xen, or Hyper-V

  • In depth knowledge of AD, Certificate Services, KMS, Group Policy, DNS, and Server Administration

  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in the authorship and utilization of scripting and automation to build, audit/remediate, and manage life-cycle of Windows server and virtualization infrastructure at enterprise-scale using one or more of the following: PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, Java Script

  • Strong understanding of network, firewall, load balancer, and security concepts

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively

  • Ability to adapt and learn new technologies

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work both independently and with others

  • Ability to operate in a fast moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment with tight deadlines

Preferred Experience

  • Experience providing or supporting multi-tenant, datacenter hosting solutions

  • Experience leveraging PowerShell Desired State Configuration

  • Experience supporting/managing RDS, LDAP, NTP, DHCP, SCCM

  • Experience with multi-tier system planning and implementation

  • Experience in core Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, IIS, WDS

  • ConnectWise Automate and Control administration experience

  • Vipr SRM administration experience

  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices
