  • Minimum: $49,868.00

  • Maximum: $60,866.00

City residency requirement may be waived for this position.

Normal entry salary is $49,868. Candidates who possess a Class A, B or C Public Drinking Water Treatment System Operator Certification issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources will start at $60,866 annually. Candidates who possess a Stationary Engineer’s License issued by the City of St. Louis will start at $60,866 annually.

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position operate and maintain a coagulant house and filter plant in order to purify drinking water and ensure the safety of the drinking water system. Positions require shift, weekend and holiday assignments. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree in Engineering, Environmental or Industrial Technologies, Building Maintenance or related field; or at least one year experience assisting in the operation of a water treatment facility. OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Certification: Must obtain a Missouri Public Drinking Water Treatment System Operator Certification (Class D) by completion of the working test period.

License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of filing application and be able to present it upon request. MEDICAL: A "Drug Screen" will be administered as part of the medical examination.
